Program notes — J1407b is an ever-growing live set for modular synthesizer — inspired by a planet of the same name in the constellation Centaurus & characterized by a massive ring system consisting of over 30 rings, each of them tens of millions of kilometers in diameter.Overwhelming drones, granular sound- scapes & recordings of NASA’s Cassini spacecraft gradually morph, dissolve and re-emerge in ever-changing states. J1407b offers an immersive experience, mirroring the continuous accumulation processes within this celestial system, where colossal rings made of rocks, dust and/or void coexist.With each new performance, the live set evolves — its sonic universe expanding as new (musical) material is woven in.
